...The September 15th WAS THE LAST ONE FOR THE YEAR!

The Aug 25th 'Monday Night Ride' saw Joe Srocki of Essex Brass winning. Tom Elias of the SC Devo Team again was right there taking 2nd place. After the main sprint, Joe Skrocki rolled away trying to solo the last 4.5 miles. John Sully, Tom Elias, and Tony Ponton spoiled that plan with 500meters to go as they all came around to go 1-2-3. The 3 bonus sprints went down like this:

Broadbridge 1st=Joe Srocki, 2nd=Rich Russell, 3rd=John Sullivan

Algonac 1st=Tom Elias, 2nd=Joe Skrocki, 3rd=Rich Russell

Jet's Pizza 1st=Tom Elias, 2nd=Tony Ponton, 3rd=John Sullivan

Finish 1st=Joe Srocki, 2nd=Tom Elias, 3rd=Rich Russell

As you can see 5 guys took all the extra bonus points!!!!

PLEASE, PLEASE SIGN IN! We are using this list for multiple things! We are now back to the paper sign in because less seem to be using the computer to sign in. Please look for the clipboard next week.

Well, in effort to gain more riders every week, we have a NEW plan. 1st=100pts, 2nd=75pts, 3rd=50pts. ALL others will receive 25 points for finishing the ride. So, a rider that completes 4 rides will have the same points as one who wins one and does not complete the next 3. As a bonus, women riders will receive 10 extra points for completing the ride. There are also 3 NEW BONUS POINT SPRINTS...The 1st one is at the top of the hill on Broadbridge Rd. This is the one you can see from River Rd. 1st=30pts, 2nd=20, 3rd=10. The 2nd will be at the green "Welcome to Algonac" sign at the end of the cemetary. 1st=30pts, 2nd=20, 3rd=10. And the last bonus sprint is the yellow arrow sign coming back into town at the top of the hill in front of the Jet's Pizza.1st=30pts, 2nd=20, 3rd=10. Our goal is to have 100 plus riders this summer...Please do come join in! We are currently working on the site and sign-in pages to complete this task. SIGN-IN IS 100% MANDATORY.

Essex Brass/SC Bicycles 2009 Development Camp....

When: Saturday, February 28 – Sunday, March 8, 2009

Where: South Carolina...Right at the base of the legendary Caesar's Head Mt. climb. A 1 hour difficult climb that many US Pros, like George Hincape, train and use as a benchmark. You will stay in a new and VERY CLEAN cabin with it's own kitchen. You can choose to have it all to yourself, or stay with 2 of your friends and lower the cost for your group.

What: Is this camp for you? Come out to our Monday Night Ride and we can better assess where you are at. If you are in the A and B groups then the answer is yes...C group riders will struggle too much to get the full benefit of the camp. All training is based off of power! A Saris PowerTap to be exact. If you do not have one, we can supply you one! In fact we are going to take care of everything for you! This camp is about more than riding fast. It will cover how to eat, on and off the bike, and then customize a program to optimize your program; how to ride efficiently for your fitness level...and most importantly, how you are going to get to the next level personally...Even how to work on your bike.

A Cabin to yourself for 8 days: $1000.00

A cabin w/you and a friend: $850.00

A cabin with two of your friends: $750.00

The Cabins have 2 rooms and a pullout in the common area. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE call for any details. We will post more additional info here as we have it. We are taking deposits right now because we have been making payments on the cabins for months to ensure that we have all the cabins for our riders... From a Cat 5 to a Cat 1...you will learn something here and walk away having spent the best 8 days you have ever spent on a bike!

This ride started with SC Bicycle's & Essex Brass Race Team's Monday Night Training in 2007. The ride then grew quick as I offered up $100.00 CASH MONEY to ANYONE that could beat me! I added a large product raffle for everyone, every week! The Monday Night Ride quickly morphed into something larger than we expected!

The 2007 mandatory training ride for these 10 elite cyclists not only insured the ride was serious and attracted Michigan's top riders. Not that $100.00 CASH for the win every week didn't hurt either!. But also, their high level professionalism and knowledge attracted many new riders and racers looking to grow both mentally and physically. This is why we started the SC Bicycles/Essex Brass Development Team!

ANYONE riding the Monday Night Ride is encouraged to join the Devo Team. As with any questions, please do not hesitate call or email us for details on becoming part of Michigan's largest growing cycling organization!!!

Average speeds....
A Group: 30-27 mph this is about 225 average watts plus to stay on the back
B Group: 25-22 mph
C Group: 21-18

NOTE:I have bumped the "A" Group speed up a bit because the rides have had average speeds above 27 mph...even slowing in town for the 2 lights. Joe Skrocki
